Welcome

The Centre for Bioanalytical Sciences (CBAS)

CBAS is an industry-academia collaboration utilising the best academic research skills to resolve shared problems associated with research-intensive bioindustries.  The CBAS consortium was established between Dublin City University, National University of Ireland Galway, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and the Industrial Development Agency (Ireland) in 2005. It was the first to introduce this unique platform in Ireland and remains one of the few in Europe.  Based on the experience gained from the initial partnership, the concept is now expanding and is being utilised to bring novel and advanced bioanalytical solutions to the biopharmaceutical and life science industry sectors, including novel diagnostic and nanotechnologies .

Our future vision of CBAS is to become a Centre of Expertise with high international visibility and a key National Resource for researchers, extending from fundamental cell biology and glycobiology frontiers research to novel applications giving the biopharmaceutical industry sector distinct added value.

The approaches taken are expected to provide a clear understanding of the molecular mechanisms as a basis for the identification of novel therapeutic targets in specific tissues and cell types, and will therefore play a key role in refining the next generation of biopharmaceuticals. CBAS provides unique training opportunities for students and scientists, and represents a unique model and catalyst for large-scale industry-university joint research in the biopharmaceutical sector.
